Who We Are

Dead Calm Seas Marine Services is a premier commercial diving company staffed by world-class, highly skilled divers who perform comprehensive underwater operations across marine and inland environments. Our team specializes in submarine cable installation and burial, inspections, salvage operations, marine construction, demolition and repair, and oil & gas work.

We provide dive systems and teams capable of working at various depths, from surface air and mixed gas, to saturation diving operations. Our experience spans both public and private sector projects, and we maintain strict adherence to USCG, CAL/OSHA, ADCI, and IMCA regulations. All of our divers hold current certifications including ADCI and DCBC credentials, reflecting our unwavering commitment to safety and professionalism.

We strive to supply our customers with personnel, experience, and an overall end product second to none. We treat each customer and each project as our top priority. As a company whose business revolves around life support, safety is integrated into everything we do. Our History

Born from Loss. Driven by Purpose. Built to Set the Standard.

Dead Calm Seas Marine Services (DCS) was founded not just as a business, but as a mission.
‍
In the aftermath of tragedy, founder Tim Wakefield made a promise that would become the foundation of DCS. After losing a close friend in the field—despite Tim’s best efforts to save him as the Diver Medic Technician (DMT) on site—the response from the company involved was disappointing. Pledges of reform and accountability were quietly forgotten, swept under the rug like so many before.

That moment changed everything.

Tim, alongside a small group of like-minded peers, made a decision: "If no one else is going to fix this, we will."

With that, Dead Calm Seas was born.

It took a year of groundwork, leveraging Tim’s relationships from his time with the U.S. Navy, pooling experience from collectively thousands of dives, and building a business the right way, from the seabed up. Through it all, the five original founding members remained committed, hands-on, and united by a shared goal; To raise the standard across the entire commercial diving and marine services industry.
